Church Groups
For more information on Church Groups, please contact
the Vicar or complete the response form on ‘Getting
involved’.
The Church diary can
also be the foot of the 'Home' page and will tell you when
each of these Church Groups next meets.
Alpha Courses
The Alpha Course is an introduction to the Christian
faith which has been used in thousands of churches
worldwide. It is ideal for enquirers who
want to know more about the claims of Jesus. Equally, it has benefited
many Christians of long-standing who want a ‘refresher’ course.
Each course runs for a term and we usually run two a year. The course comprises
11 daytime or evening sessions and one Saturday. Subjects covered include:
Who is Jesus and why did he die?
How can we read the Bible and pray?
What about the Holy Spirit?
Does God
heal? What about evil?
How does God guide us?
Each session starts with
a meal or light refreshments, continues with a short video presentation
and concludes with an open discussion. There is no
pressure
to say
anything
and you can opt out
at any point. Our next course begins in September. |

Banner Group
St. Peter’s
is always decorated with some of
our lovely banners, which change with the
different seasons of the year. The banners
have been lovingly and skilfully made over
many years by a small band of dedicated ladies.
They are still busy creating banners for us, and would welcome additional members. |

Choir and Worship
Band
Music is at the heart of much of our worship. We use a wide
variety of styles, encompassing traditional hymns and contemporary
songs. Our robed Choir leads the music at our 9.30am services
and our Worship Band at our 11.00am 'Praise for All' and
informal evening services. We are always glad to welcome
new members to sing in the Choir or play/sing in the Worship
Band.
Companions
Companions is what it says! This social gathering, which
is linked to St. Peter’s, meets each month on a Monday
afternoon in the Village Hall.
|
Fair Trade
St. Peter’s Church is a supporter of the principle
of ‘Fair
Trade’ and this is demonstrated at many of our events
where a ‘Fair Trade’ stall is included.
We serve 'Fair Trade' coffee, tea and biscuits on Sundays,
at Coffee Pop-Ins and at other social events in Church.

“Friendly Hour”
This group began life in Anlaby Methodist Church but, since
the closure of the latter, now meets in the Vestry at St.
Peter’s every other week on a Tuesday afternoon.
|
House groups
At the heart of any Church should be small groups where our
faith can grow, we can make close friendships and give and
receive support. Our house groups meet fortnightly on Wednesdays,
one in the afternoon and one in the evening. We study the
Bible, pray, and spend time getting to know each other better.

Mothers’ Union
The MU is a worldwide organisation which has been active
in support of family life and marriage for over
125 years. Our Branch at St. Peter’s has just celebrated its
65th anniversary. The Branch usually meets on the first Monday
of each month at 2.00pm in the Village Hall.
Meetings comprise worship, a talk or activity, and time to
share and socialise.

Social Activities
Our Social Committee runs an event about every month through
the year. Events include: Afternoon Teas, Coffee mornings,
a Barn Dance, a Quiz Night, the Summer and Christmas Fayres
and one or two concerts. For our next social event, please
refer to ‘Coming up soon’.
Each Thursday at 10.00am, we have a Coffee Pop-In in the Vestry
to which anyone is welcome.

Women’s Fellowship
The Fellowship meets once a month on a Monday afternoon in
the Village Hall. It usually has a speaker on a topic of
interest and time for refreshments and socialising.
