Baptisms, Wedding and Funerals
St. Peter’s is a Parish Church and is therefore available
to anyone from the parish for their special service. Please
feel free to tell your guests about this website so that
they can download a map if they need one. The Church is
equipped
with a disabled access ramp to our side door and a hearing
loop for those with hearing aids.
Baptisms and Thanksgivings
St. Peter’s offers Christian baptism (often known as ‘Christening’)
to people of all ages (not just infants!) who live in our
parish or are regular attenders at St. Peter’s. Baptism
is at the heart of the Christian life and involves the person
being baptised (if they are old enough), or their parents
and godparents, making declarations of their faith in Jesus
and committing themselves to coming to Church. Given the
weighty nature of these promises, we suggest that those who
have little or no prior Church connections opt for a Thanksgiving
in the case of an infant. The Thanksgiving service has grown
in popularity and makes no faith demands on the parents but
still gives them the opportunity to express their thanks
publicly, to name the child, and for the Church to pray for
God’s blessing on the child and the family. Thanksgivings
and Baptisms are normally conducted in certain of our 11.00am
'Praise for All' services, following attendance at Church
and a Preparation evening.
Please contact Neal for more information.
NB. The Register of Baptisms since 1968 is held at St. Peter’s;
older registers have been deposited at the Archives Office
(see ‘History’).

Weddings and Blessings
St. Peter’s is an attractive Church and is a popular
venue for weddings. We try our best to make the Church the
perfect location for your wedding and the service a real
celebration of your love for each other and God’s love
for you. As well as couples from Anlaby we get many requests
from couples outside our parish. We are always ready to welcome
these couples, providing that they are happy to satisfy the
necessary legal requirements. We are willing to conduct wedding
Blessings for those couples where one or both partners have
been married before. Please contact Neal for more information
and/or to make a booking.
NB. Registers of more recent marriages are held at St. Peter’s;
older registers have been deposited at the Archives Office
(see ‘History’).
Funerals
We make every effort to be available to conduct funerals
of parishioners either at Church or at one of the local crematoria.
Normally, we are contacted by your Funeral Director but we
are open to direct approaches from families, especially if
you have particular questions. The Church is equipped to
play tapes and CD’s, if you want a special piece.
