Our Purpose & Belief

Our Purpose

Crucifix Statue

St. Peter's Church

Jesus died on the cross out of his love for us. He rose from the dead. By his spirit he is with us today. Our objective is to share his love in Anlaby.

The people of St Peter’s have an agreed purpose - ‘To share God’s love in Anlaby’

Our ‘Mission Action Plan’ sets out how we will do this, through:

Prayer – deepening our use of prayer, encouraging discernment and use of spiritual gifts

Small groups – establishing a ‘cell group’ network

Children’s work – strengthening and growing our work with children

Publicity – enhancing communications in a variety of ways

Serving the community – reaching out more within our community

Buildings – maintenance and enhancement to comply with legislation and serve our changing needs

Resources – encouraging giving of time and money to support God's work in Anlaby and beyond

Our Belief

We believe in one God, our Father and creator. He loves us and has given us freedom to make choices, even if that choice is to walk away from him.

God sent his son Jesus to live in our world, to teach us about God’s love. Jesus amazed people with his miracles and teaching, and then gave his life to save us and bring us back to God. On Jesus' return to heaven, God sent us the Holy Spirit to be forever with us, and within us if we allow him.

We believe in one God, who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus is as alive and relevant today as he was when he walked the Earth 2000 years ago. He seeks us but will only come into our lives if we ask him. If you don’t already know him, give him some time. Knowing him brings joy, peace, love and hope – he can change your life!
